Basic Construction Safety Procedures In UAE


Construction work is really difficult as well as risky. The workers have to follow certain safety standards to decrease the number of accidents taken place at construction sites.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE BASIC CONSTRUCTION SAFETY PROCEDURES THAT THE WORKERS MUST FOLLOW:

  1. Wear the seatbelt compulsory whether you are in a vehicle or any heavy equipment. Seatbelts play a crucial role at the time of any kind of accidents and prevent lives. Motor vehicle crashes are one of the most major issues in most of the countries. So it's mandatory in most of the countries for drivers and operators to wear a seatbelt.   
  2. Inspect the equipment and tools that the workers are regularly using. Repair the broker tools as soon as possible. Check the wear and tear of the tools, if they need replacement, immediately replace them. Check all the equipment are in good working condition or not, also check all the safety devices are at appropriate places or not. 
  3. If you are working at height, must use fall protection. As per the report by OSHA, accidents happening by falling from height is the second largest leading cause of death. You should use guardrails or utilize a full body harness with a safe-retracting lanyard to stay safe while working at height.
  4. Maintain appropriate distance from the heavy equipment. When the heavy equipment move around ground personnel struck-by-incidents, caught-in-between incidents and run over incidents occur too often. If you are working around the heavy equipment, always communicate with the driver and operator. Keep your eyes on the equipment and make sure you are visible to the operator.
  5. Keep your eyes open all the time while working at a construction site. Don't put yourself in the line of fire. There are many things you should take care of while working at a construction site. Being underneath lifted loads, next to a pipe being cut that has stored energy, or working underneath equipment that is not properly cribbed up, etc. are some of the examples of the line of fire.
